Salt Lake City Birth Photography & Videography
You know your birth deserves to be captured, and choosing who to allow into your birth space is a sensitive decision. Trust is everything— and I take that seriously.
Birth is a journey so profound it becomes forever woven into the fibers of our being. It’s a time when the people supporting us leave a lasting impression on how we perceive our experience. My approach to birth and documenting birth prioritizes trauma-informed, unbiased, and person-centered support for all.
The time we’ll spend together will feel connective, respectful, and affirm that you feel seen and heard. Birth is beautiful, messy, unpredictable, and my goal is to tell your story honestly so that you glean everything possible from the experience.
As many parents can attest, birth photography and birth videography is about more than memory preservation and a celebration of your experience. It’s also extremely therapeutic and incredibly healing because it allows you to more fully process the experience on your own time, and to do it through an objective and artistic perspective. Preserving your story also normalizes birth within your family unit and with others you choose to share it with.
Birth is sacred and you deserve all the power that comes with witnessing the experience.
I want to help you capture your birth in the way it deserves.
I live where I work: in Salt Lake City! I’m a free-thinking, queer, mixed-race Chicana, matriarch, trauma-survivor, birth worker (trained doula), birth advocate, photographer, and filmmaker who travels Northern Utah documenting the life-expanding moment of childbirth for expecting families.
Our birth was one of those with a plot twist at the end. It was an unnecessarily traumatic and life-changing experience that forever opened my eyes to the condition of American birth culture—especially for those of us existing in the margins. In those moments I learned just how important it is to be supported by the right kind of people in birth.
As a birth photographer my goal is to help people realize how therapeutic and empowering it is to relive their stories. That that by preserving the experience they are radically caring for their psychological and self-fulfilling needs in a way that often gets overlooked.
We’ll most definitely meet before your birth, either through video chat or in person. We’ll also get to know each other by phone, text, and email throughout our time together so that come your birth day, we won’t feel like strangers. I don’t generally need to meet in person before stepping into a birth space, but if it’s important to you, please let me know so we can make it work.
I started specializing in birth photography in 2017 and have documented over sixty births as of December 2021. It’s not a ton of births, I’ll admit. The way I see it though, the quality of birth worker I am, my reputation in the birth community, the dynamic way I capture birth stories, and the way I hold space for your experience is what matters most. I’m also experienced working in all sorts birth environments including stillbirth, operating rooms, VBAC births, quick births, hospital births, etc.
Most people inquire shortly after they find out they’re expecting and book in the beginning of their second trimester. I always say book as soon as you know I’m the one for you that way things won’t feel rushed. It’ll also give us plenty of time to spread out monthly payments. To help assure I’m the one with you (and not a backup) on the day of your birth and to make sure you get me at my best, I’m only accepting 1-2 births a month. Space is definitely limited, but take the time you need to feel good about your decision.
The goal is for me to be on my way to you in early active labor and to leave an hour or two after birth so you can rest. Birth moves at an unpredictable pace so we’ll do our best to determine when the time is right using your intuition and other indicators we have available. If our communication is solid, I’m generally out the door within 15 minutes from notification.
When families allow me to share their birth in any capacity, it’s always so greatly appreciated! After all, it is hard selling my services as a birth photographer without being able to show my creations. With that said, it only feels right sharing when I have full enthusiastic consent to do so. I get how sacred and private this moment is and will always respect your right to keep things private.
In the event of a cesarean one of three things will happen. I will be allowed, I won’t be allowed in, or I might be allowed in. The way it goes down is based on everyone’s safety, your medical team, and hospital policy. If I am allowed in, wonderful! If not I’ll continue documenting as soon as it’s permitted. In some instances I’ve waited outside the OR and photographed through a window, before being invited in.
Birth can be very unpredictable—it’s just how it goes. In the unlikely and unfortunate circumstance that I miss your birth I have a couple of trusted backup photographers that can almost always take my place– if that’s what you want. If I miss your birth, then I’d get to you as quickly as possible and document as much as is permitted. If there are too many missed moments, you’ll always get the same number of images and film length purchased– even if we supplement with another type of session.
After your birth I will come home, rest/eat, then begin editing your sneak previews. I usually send over 3-5 previews within 24-48 hours after birth so you can start gushing over the experience. A full gallery and film can take up to 12 weeks to edit because life is crazy, plus I edit for consistency and process each image in color and black/white. If you’re dying to see images, which I completely understand, let me know so I can try to make that happen for you.
Digital high resolution images and films are delivered via a beautiful private online gallery and are accessible from a desktop and mobile app for one year after your gallery is delivered. That’s right— an entire year! You may also print images on your own for personal use through a lab of your choice or through me. If you’re interested in printed products through me please contact me for an estimate on price and turnaround time.

I sure do! A certain amount of travel is already included in my base prices so extended travel will incur an additional fee, but I promise it’s reasonable. Limiting miles and charging an additional fee for father distances helps me keep my rate as low as possible. I serve most parts of Northern Utah— from Ogden to Provo and Tooele to Park City.
