My husband and I chose not to hire a birth photographer when our daughter was born and it’s something we regret. We’re not dying over the fact that we didn’t hire a photographer, but there is most definitely a piece of our heart that aches and wishes we would have chosen differently. It's an ache that has only grown as the years have passed. If you & your partner are on the fence--hopefully the info in this post helps with a more productive conversation as you decide whether or not to invest in professionally preserving your story.Read More
I've been so busy working on the business side of things that I haven't picked up my 'fancy' camera to document life in awhile. I swear I could start almost every blog post with that sentence.
So I was working today--like I usually do--when all of a sudden I noticed how quiet it was in the house. As Mama to a very active almost-3 year old when it's quiet for more than a minute or two I know something is going on. Just as suspected, Little Miss was transporting water in her juice cup from the bathroom (sink, thankfully!) in to the living room. The control freak in me decided to just let her do it because I'm learning to "Let it go! Let it go!", so I laid down a towel and grabbed the camera.
Here she is in all her glory, mixing an apple juice water pie (her words, not mine) in her Hello Kitty bucket. After pie it was crawl behind the couch and play peek-a-boo, which turned in to let me show off a little more with my lipstick and stethoscope. All of this work must have been completely exhausting because then she climbed inside the refrigerator to look for snacks. How & where she get's all of this energy I have no clue. What I would like is for her to share some with me because now I'm ready for a nap!
Week 11 | Everyday Life
This past weekend we spent some time at the Tracy Aviary. If you have not been, it's totally worth it--especially if it's a beautiful day!
Project 52 Update
Weeks 9: Back on the Wagon
It's been a busy last few weeks working on everything for Born and keeping life together. I realized just yesterday that I hadn't taken a photo for this project for the last few weeks. Woopsie.
Just paintin' some handmade gifts for a her friend's birthday tomorrow. I'm super impressed with the colors she mixed with the basic colors she had.

Week 4: Exploration
Fascinated with the wrinkles on her fingers.
The sink has always been her favorite place for a bath.
Week 3: My Style
Some days for breakfast we eat together at her little table and other days she watches Pooh while Mama gets some work done.
Seriously in love with the images from this newborn & family session.
It was impossible to choose only one image for the sneak peek, so i chose 4.
The most magical part of this session was watching Mama and baby interact.
The bond they share is simply beautiful.
This was our first time carving a pumpkin for Halloween since girlfriend joined the family. The first year she was 3 months old and life was one big sh*tstorm--literally and figuratively. Last year we were readying for a move to Salt Lake City and life was still a mess. This year, we're back into the swing of things and enjoying life. Thank goodness.
